MIDLAND/ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) - Both Midland and Odessa are providing free drop-off locations for residents who are looking to dispose of live Christmas trees from the holiday season.

“It gives citizens a convenient way to dispose of their trees responsibly,” Becsave Pacheco with Keep Odessa Beautiful said.

The City of Odessa said the trees are recycled into mulch, which is then offered to citizens of free, with the aim of helping to enhance landscaping projects while reducing waste. Odessa residents can dispose of live Christmas trees at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, located at 814 West 42nd Street.

Midland residents can drop off cut Christmas trees at one of two locations:

  • Hogan Park, located behind the Armory on Lamesa Road, between Field 7 and the Bill Wiliams Softball Complex.
  • Citizens Collection Station, located near the Airpark at 4100 Smith Road.

The City of Midland is asking residents to remove all lights and decorations from the tree before dropping it off.
