Midland College announces Kristina Gafford as new head Volleyball coach

MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) - Midland College announced former player and assistant coach Kristina Gafford as the new Volleyball head coach.

Gafford was a two-year starter the Lady Chapparels in 2012 and 2013 recording a total of 1,365 saves during her career. 830 of the saves came during her sophomore year setting a team record. During her time as a player, Gafford led the team to two straight NJCAA Region 5 West Tournament appearances along with a finals appearance in 2012.

After Midland College, Gafford played at Texas Wesleyan University before becoming an assistant coach at Midland College in 2018 under Tammie Jimenez.

“It’s something I’ve dream’t about, goals of mine for the future, and now I get to carry it out so it’s just full circle moment for me,” said Gafford during her introduction.
