Dr. Padmaja Patel

Lifestyle Medicine Center

Dr. Patel completed her E.N.T. fellowship in India where she met her husband, Dr. Mrunal Patel during her medical training. After marriage, they came together to the United States in 1993. She completed her internal medicine residency from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and has been practicing internist in Midland for nearly two decades, focusing on evidence-based medicine and corporate wellness annual exams.

Her passion for health and wellness with a focus on nutrition led her to become certified in Plant Based Nutrition through Cornell University’s T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. Having been lifelong vegetarians, Dr. Patel and her husband adopted a whole-food, plant-based diet three years ago after studying the compelling medical evidence in regards to prevention, treatment and reversal of some chronic health conditions.

Dr. Patel’s passion and enthusiasm fueled her desire to take this movement to the next level by joining the board of Healthy City, a non-profit organization in Midland, as well as becoming the Medical Director for the Lifestyle Medicine Center which provides patients with a variety of medically supervised comprehensive lifestyle programs.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Patel has been active in our local community by organizing annual interfaith events in the Permian Basin for five years and by participating in regional interfaith events. She has served as a trustee, public relations spokesperson, and Hindu Association of West Texas board member. She and her husband have one daughter who is a senior at Princeton University.
