Sibley Nature Center
Since 1987, Sibley Nature Center has existed to create an understanding and appreciation of the nature and history of our region through a broad range of educational programs and personal experiences. The center encourages nature exploration in the Llano Estacado, Trans-Pecos and Edwards Plateau regions through fun and immersive educational programs for all ages.
Sibley Nature Center is located on 49 acres at Hogan Park in Midland, Texas, where you can enjoy a walk through habitats native to the region. Along the way, you will notice informative signs to help you discover the wildlife of our region, like the dragonflies of Sibley's pond, and learn more about the unique native plants, such as the tasajillo cactus. Shade structures along the paths allow for a quick break or a morning of bird watching. After your walk, visit the center to discover exhibits for a close-up look at wildlife. Be sure to check out the Observation Bee Hive, housed in the Wildlife Viewing Garden throughout the warm seasons, and the Llano Estacado Discovery Zone to get hands-on with artifacts and games. The center is open Monday through Friday 9:00 AM-6:00 PM. Trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. There is no admission fee to the center or trail system.
Sibley also offers a wide variety of programming for all ages. Adult learning opportunities include bi-monthly Brown Bag Lectures and Basin PBS Film Series, as well as seasonal programs addressing special interests such as ornithology, ecology and more. Sibley is also home to a robust youth education program with fun and exciting opportunities to discover and explore the natural world. Kids programming includes Nature Club, Tales & Trails, youth garden activities, summer and spring break camps, and more, at low, affordable fees.
